Boston Logan International Airport is 8 miles (13 km) from The Charles Hotel in Cambridge.

The Harvard Square MBTA ('T') Metro Station is extremely close to The Charles Hotel:

PUBLIC TRANSIT - MBTA ('T') SILVER LINE AND RED LINE 

Overview:  The MBTA (Massachussetts Bay Transportation Authority) operates public transportation in the Greater Boston area, including the commuter rail and metro lines.  As part of this system, the Silver Line runs from Logan Airport and connects with the Red Line to provide service to Harvard Square.  From there, it's a short walk to The Charles Hotel.

Estimated Travel Time: Travel time is typically 40-50 minutes

Pricing: Approximately $2.40 once you board the Red Line

From Boston Logan International Airport to The Charles Hotel:

  • From your terminal, board the Silver Line SL1 (free from the airport)
  • Ride to South Station
  • Transfer to the Red Line toward Alewife

PUBLIC TRANSIT - MBTA COMMUTER RAIL  

Overview:  The MBTA (Massachussetts Bay Transportation Authority) operates public transportation in the Greater Boston area, including the commuter rail and metro lines.  As part of this system, the MBTA will be running event trains to Foxboro station (adjacent to Boston Stadium) for this special event.

From The Charles Hotel to the Train Station:

  • From The Charles Hotel, direct access to Boston’s South Station is available via Harvard Square's MBTA Red Line or ride-share.  The Harvard Square MBTA station is at our doorstep, a mere 3-5 minute walk to The Charles Hotel.
  • The MBTA will operate dedicated Boston Stadium Train service on matchdays, running directly between South Station in Boston and Foxboro Station next to the stadium.
  • From Foxboro station, the stadium is close — accessible by a short walk.

Game Day Details and Travel Tips:  MBTA Commuter Rail

  • Special event-train tickets may sell out quickly, so buy them early via the MBTA mTicket app or at the station.

  • Each ticket belongs to a boarding group (Boarding Group A, B, C, D, or E). The boarding group letter indicates when to be at South Station to check in for your train. 

RIDESHARE - UBER / LYFT

Overview:  Enjoy seamless, door-to-door travel from The Charles Hotel to the game with rideshare service through Uber and Lyft apps.

Estimated Travel Time: Boston Stadium is approximately 24 miles (39km) from The Charles Hotel.  Drive time varies, depending on traffic.  To ensure the best experience possible, we recommend leaving ample time for travel.  A variety of restaurants and bars are available to enjoy at Boston stadium complex.  

 

DRIVING AND RENTAL CARS  

Overview:  Perfect for those wishing to personalize their journey to Boston Stadium, a rental car allows you to tailor your route between The Charles Hotel and Boston Stadium, enjoying the freedom to pause and explore along the way.

Estimated Travel Time: Boston Stadium is approximately 28 miles (45km) from Cambridge and similar to rideshare, drive time varies, depending on traffic.  Allowing ample travel is recommended to ensure you can enjoy the festivities of the day.  A variety of restaurants and bars are available at Boston stadium complex.

  • Valet and self-parking with in and out access are available at The Charles Hotel
  • Rental Car - Avis and Budget are conveniently located on-site in The Charles Hotel lobby.  Advanced reservations are encouraged.
    • Weekdays: 8 AM - 6 PM 
    • Weekends: 7 AM - 5 PM

Return service is included in your ticket. Trains will begin departing Foxboro Station approximately 30 minutes after the final whistle, with departures running every 15 minutes until all passengers have returned to South Station.

From South Station, guests can connect to MBTA subway, bus, and commuter rail services. After matches, extended service will run late into the night, with subway lines and select bus routes operating until approximately 2 AM on weekdays and 4 AM following the Saturday, June 13 match.

Avis and Budget rental car companies are conveniently located on-site in The Charles Hotel lobby.

Arriving a minimum of two days prior to the match you plan to attend is ideal, as it will allow you to settle in, adjust to the city, and explore the area.

Boston summer climate patterns are warm and comfortable in June and early July, with daytime highs around mid‑70s °F (23–25 °C) and nighttime or early morning temps often dropping to mid‑50s to mid‑60s °F (14–18 °C). Rain is possible and summer brings moderately high humidity.

 

Breathable layers, comfortable shoes, and a light jacket for potential evening temperature drops. A compact rain layer is helpful if showers are in the forecast.

Most Boston-area venues follow a clear bag policy and allow small personal items.  Large flags, coolers, and outside alcohol are generally not allowed. Many stadiums and vendors now use cashless or contactless payment, so carrying a credit or debit card will be helpful.  We recommend reviewing stadium rules in advance to ensure you're aware of any updates. 

  • Ensure your tickets are accessible and check stadium gates prior to travel, some open earlier than others
  • Arrange transportation early.  Demand will be high, so book as far in advance as possible to ensure you have a plan in place.  Our Concierge is happy to assist with arrangements.
  • Arrive early for the match.  A variety of restaurants and bars are available at Boston Stadium.  Allowing ample time to enjoy the festivities of the day will elevate your experience.
